NOTE: I am about to move out of town, and I no longer try to report on the various chess events
occurring in the Triangle area. For information about the Asheboro, Wolfpack, Greenville, and other
local chess events, please visit the corresponding web sites (linked on the front page of this site).

information with the listed contact person before making travel plans!
Note: USCF rated tournaments require membership in the United States
Chess Federation. This can usually be arranged at the tournament site

Note: This is the first in a series of scholastic chess tournaments hosted by the newly formed
Triangle Area Scholastic Chess Association (TASCA).
In addition to entering their children as competitors,
parents and guardians can support our local chess kids by volunteering to help at our tournaments.

Format: USCF rated 4-round swiss (USCF membership required). No one eliminated -- everyone plays all rounds.

Note: Accelerated pairings may be used. A blitz playoff may be used to break a tie for first place.
Entry Fee: $20 if received by March 1, 2006; $25 on-site
Prizes: The winner of the tournament, if she so chooses, will
be North Carolina’s representative to Susan Polgar National Invitational for Girls in August in Oak Brook, IL.
Some expenses covered (in 2005, more than $900 was awarded to the winner to cover expenses).
