Brian Hance, webmaster of MaydayMystery.org, received several packages from patrons of The Orphanage. He scanned the contents of each package and posted them at Mayday/Texts/Box022300. Layer3 on that page shows a couple images: a book cover and a tangram-like puzzle. A cropped image of the book cover, shown above, is a book by Jere T. Hutcheson written in 1972: Musical Form and Analysis, a Programmed Course, Volume One, Basic Elements in Musical Form; Boston: Allyn and Bacon Inc. Jere's grandfather is John Calvin Gore who wrote a poem called "Into the Infinite I Go." The important clues here are the date of the book: 1972, Boston, Bacon, John Calvin, and "Infinite".
The second image is a seven square tangram-like puzzle shown below. I used this puzzle to make various images.
The first image I made is a unique image because it represents the base two number system (binary) used in the ancient Chinese Yi Jing (I Ching) and in our modern computer age. The small black and white triangle in the middle of the large rectangle has an area of one square unit. On top of that triangle is a slightly larger black and white square with an area of two square units. Just above that square, is another square with an area of four square units. Combining the two bottom squares of the rectangle makes an area of eight square units. The largest square (top two-thirds of the rectangle) contains an area of sixteen square units. Thus we have a base two number sequence: 2^0 = 1, 2^1 = 2, 2^2 = 4, 2^3 = 8, and 2^4 = 16. Convert 16 decimal to binary to get 10000.

Notice that we have once again returned to the number 10000 which is part of the message of the very first Arizona Daily Wildcat announcement posted in May 1, 1981. I like the 05.21.02 post by Perianwyr Stormcrow for this announcement:
10,000 is generally used in Chinese for "infinite". So, to wish someone ten thousand years of life in Chinese is to wish them life eternal.
The "infinite" reminds me of John Calvin Gore's poem: "Into the Infinite I Go". Unfortunately, I could not find the poem at this time to post here. Also, "10000" reminds me of the triangle graph paper in Layer 2 with a message on the opposite side of the paper about watching the Magnolia movie for numbers. The total number of the smallest triangles in the large triangle comes to exactly 10000. By the way, the numbers referenced in the Magnolia movie, 8:2, can be converted to 8*2 = 16, 16 = 1+6 = 7, and 16 decimal = 10000 binary. Also, 8+2 = 10 decimal = 12 octal = 20 pental. Change 10 decimal to 10 hexadecimal = 10000 binary.
Be sure to thoroughly read Shane Hipps' review of Magnolia from beginning to end in the previous link. Notice how closely it correlates to the overall meaning of the ADW announcements. Oppression, or suppression, against anyone that stands up for their beliefs in one God through Jesus Christ, or their rights to have freedom or democracy, is anathema. Though we cannot see Jesus Christ, or understand his miracles, we can still put our trust in the only one that has conquered death and sin through his personal suffering and resurrection from the dead (1 Corinthians chapter 15). By doing so, we are given the gift of eternal life (John 3:16, Romans 6:23).
Did you know that 668 can be derived from the number 16? 16 decimal = 20 octal, 20 = 6+6+8. The number 12 can be derived at by using the same adding process: 6+6+8 = 20, 20 pental = 12 octal. And we can get the number 120 by using 668 in the following fashion: 6*6*8 = 288 decimal = 120 hexadecimal. If we rotate the number 668 over 180 degrees to get 899, we can also get the number 120. 8*9*9 = 648 decimal = 288 hexadecimal. Change 288 hexadecimal to 288 decimal = 120 hexadecimal as previously mentioned. 648 decimal can make the number 12 such as 6+4+8 = 18 decimal = 12 hexadecimal. Perhaps the most important calculation is 8+9+9 = 26, the number for YHWH (GOD) in Hebrew. And as you already know, 2+6 = 8, which we use for octave, for octal, for 8 bit binary, the eighth letter of the Hebrew alphabet (Chet), and the eighth letter of the Greek alphabet (Theta), the first letter of God's name in Greek: Theos. Theta is also used in polar coordinates.
Not only does the number eight represent God (Jehovah, IHVH, JHVH, or YHWH), it can also represent infinity. Eight (8) has the same type shape as infinity, only standing vertical instead of horizontal. Besides zero (0), the number eight and the symbol for infinity can be drawn continuously in an "infinite" loop without ever having to lift the pencil from the paper. 888 is the number for IHSOUS (JESUS). Conversely, eight is also the number for the god called Thoth by Egyptians, Nebo by Assyrians, Hermes by Greeks, and Mercury by Romans. It is even considered the number mainly used in Hermetic Science.
Using the basic concepts of gematria, isopsephy, or numerology, the numbers 3, 7, 11, 111, 12, 120, 1200, 12000, and nearly all other main numbers used in the ADW announcements can be converted to 10000 (infinity or eternal life). It just depends on the base number system used, and how many times it is converted from one base to another. Remember that in gematria, zeros are removed and positive integers are added or manipulated in other ways.
The following 25x25 infinite knight's tour I designed back in 2003 seems to closely represent the underlying concept of infinity or eternal life as portrayed by the ADW May Day announcements. Visit www.BordersChess.org/KnightTour.htm to view some of my other work on knight tours. If we add up all the squares on the board in the graphic, we get 625 total squares or 25*25 = 625. We can now subtract 625 from 668 to get 43. 4+3 = 7 and 4*3 = 12. Also, 7 = 1+6 or 16 decimal = 10000 binary and 7 = 2+5 or 25. 625 decimal = 10000 pental.
If we look at John 3:16 in the Greek text, there are 25 total words in the verse. By adding up the numerical value of all 108 letters in John 3:16, we get a total of 12949. Using gematria, or isopsephy in this case, we add up each integer in 12949 such as 1+2+9+4+9 = 25. If we multiply the integers of 12949 we get 1*2*9*4*9 = 648 decimal = 288 hexadecimal. Change 288 hexadecimal to 288 decimal = 120 hexadecimal. Notice that 1*2*9*4*9 is the same as 8*9*9 or 899. Turn 899 over 180 degrees to get 668. The 108 letters, or 1+8, equals 9 decimal. Change 9 decimal to 9 hexadecimal = 14 pental. Change 14 pental to 14 hexadecimal = 20 decimal = 6+6+8. Also, 14 decimal = 16 octal. Change 16 octal to 16 decimal = 10000 binary.
Throughout the Biblical Scriptures, many miracles occurred such as the feeding of the 5000 with five barley loaves and two small fish (John 6:9). By using the seven tangram-like squares, you can both witness a miracle and perform a miracle at the same time. However, keep in mind that true miracles come from God. See if you can turn night into day and one into 12,000 by moving only one square to a new location in the graphic below.

Using the tangram-like strip of seven squares can make various letters when reflected in a mirror and combined with each other. I have come up with two different sets of letters that can be rearranged in any order within their own set.
1) B - C - E can be BCE, BEC, CBE, CEB, EBC, ECB
2) B - C - K can be BCK, BKC, CBK, CKB, KBC, KCB
The shape of the letter "C" looks to conform more geometrically with the other letters in set number 1 (BCE), than "C" does in set number 2 (BCK). I like the way BCE can be reversed to make ECB, and have the same TLA (Three Letter Acronym) meaning when translated from one language to the next. See more below.
These twelve different combinations can probably make hundreds of TLAs. Here are just a few examples:
BCE - Before the Common Era
BCE Disambiguation
ECB - Eurpean Central Bank (wikipedia)
ECB - European Central Bank (website)
ECB - Emacs Code Browser
ECB - European Chemicals Bureau
Without much effort, you can find dozens of more TLAs. BCE (Before the Common Era) could relate well to The Orphanage. BCE could also mean "Before the Christian Era." Make BCE a hexadecimal number and convert it to octal to get 5716. Turn 5716 into Isaiah 57:16:
For I will not contend forever,
Nor Will I always be angry,
For the spirit would grow faint before Me,
And the breath of those whom I have made" - NASB
Isaiah 57:16 directly relates to Genesis 6:3:
Then the Lord said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh;
nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.- NASB
Notice that the 120 years is a finite number relating to the end of one's life. 120 is referenced numerous times in the ADW announcements. Thankfully, we are given a second chance at life through Jesus Christ (John 3:16). Jesus' birth marks a new era known as the Common Era (CE), or I like to call it the Christian Era. Turn John 3:16 into 316 octal and convert it to hexadecimal to get CE. Thus, with BCE we have a finite life, but with CE we have an opportunity for an infinite (eternal) life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish,
but have everlasting life. (John 3:16) - KJV
BCE (Banco Central Europeo) could also relate to The Orphanage. BCE (Banco Central Europeo) can be translated into English as ECB (European Central Bank) just by reversing the location of the letters. In fact, if you notice the letters that can be easily made (B, C, E, K) with the mirroring/combining process, the names of most of the central banks throughout the world begin one or more words with at least one of those four letters.
A couple of eire coins and a USA nickle were sent to Brian Hance within the February 23, 2000 packages. The nickle has a date of 1972. The eire coins reminded me of The Central Bank of Ireland (Bainc Cheannais Eorpaigh - BCE). The Irish BCE united with the European Central Bank (ECB) in terms of using their Euro currency. Be sure to read all the Wikipedia data about the European Central Bank from the link above. The 1972 date, eire coins, TLAs of BCE and ECB directed me to Ireland. I wanted to find out what may have happened in Ireland during 1972 that could possibly relate to The Orphanage and to the Mayday Mystery announcements. My heart was surely pierced with sadness and my eyes filled with tears when I found out what happened.
On January 30, 1972 in Derry, Northern Ireland, thirteen unarmed people were killed during a civil rights gathering. Several were shot in the back by Bristish Paratroopers that were trying to disperse the protesters. This day is known as Bloody Sunday. A couple years later, a memorial monument was erected in rememberance of those people that died, six of which were only seventeen years old. Near the top of the monument is the following engraving:
